Easy DIY Neon Coasters and Cocktail Stirrers That Demand Attention
Before the weather turns sour, why not throw an end of summer fete with neon flare? This simple DIY project is perfect to do with your BFF over a cocktail on a weekend afternoon. Our very own Bridget Clegg (she’s one of The Knot’s editors!) created this easy step-by-step guide to brighten up your party on the cheap.
What you’ll need:
- Cork coasters, WidgetCo
- Neon acrylic paint
- Painters tape
- Vinyl letters and dot stickers
- Bamboo skewers
- Washi tape, The Knot Shop
- Tissue paper
- Sponge brush
- Krylon Crystal Clear acrylic coating
Step 1: Apply stickers or painters tape to cork coasters.
Step 2: Use an angled sponge brush to dab on paint.
Step 3: Wait until paint dries and then carefully peel off stickers or tape.
Step 4: Spray coasters with an acrylic coating to make them water-resistant.
Step 5: To make cocktail stirrer, start by cutting a piece of tissue paper to 5” wide x 1.5” tall.
Step 6: Make 1” cuts into the tissue along the long side of the rectangle.
Step 7: Roll the uncut side over the end of the bamboo skewer and secure with washi tape.
Fini! You’re ready for your fete.
