Jessica Simpson and These 5 Celebs Did This Traditional Newlywed Move
Newlywed Jessica Simpson took no time at all letting everyone know she’s happily married to Eric Johnson, posting a glam bathing suit Instagram photo during her Punta Mita, Mexico, honeymoon. The pic was simply captioned, “Jessica Johnson.”
While we’re not sure if Jessica is going to professionally go by her married name from now on, it sounds like she might have legally changed it in a traditional newlywed move, just like these other five celebs:
Jenna and Channing Tatum wed in 2009, and since then, she’s gone by her hyphenated last name.
Victoria completely dropped Adams, her maiden name, when she wed David Beckham in 1999.
Kim Kardashian West
Kim plans on legally taking Kanye West’s last name and has recently changed her Twitter and Instagram accounts to Kim Kardashian West.
Jennifer Garner Affleck
While Jennifer is still professionally known by her maiden name, she legally changed her name after marrying Ben Affleck in 2005.
Vanessa told People why she changed her name to match husband Nick Lachey’s, saying, “We talked about it and [Nick] was so sweet. He said, ‘Whatever you want, I understand.’ And I said, ‘But would it mean a lot to you if I took it? Because I’m old-fashioned and I want to.’ And he said, ‘What guy wouldn’t want their girl to take their name fully?’ [But] he didn’t push me, no, no, no.”
