We Love Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s Wedding Anniversary Song (Plus 5 More From These Celeb Couples!)
Can you believe that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have been married for eight years? The country singer and Aussie actress are never shy about PDA, so during Keith’s concert in Australia, he let everyone (including Nicole, who was there) know how special the day is to him.
“This is a special night for me. It’s my eighth wedding anniversary,” he told the crowd, according to the Daily Mail. He also shared a story about how he eased Nicole’s prewedding jitters eight years ago.
“Nic and I got engaged in September 2005 and we were planning for the wedding in June. A couple of months before the wedding we were staying in a hotel and talking about the future. She was getting nervous. It was understandable — marriage is a big leap of faith. Her exact words were, ‘It’s a long shot.’ I knew it wasn’t about me. She was just scared and tried everything to help ease her fears. I even told her ‘I’m your man!'”
He continued, “I sang this at our wedding eight years ago. I was too cheap to get someone else to sing it! Eight years baby girl. This song is for you. I love you so much.”
He then reportedly sang “Making Memories of Us” as his final song — and even thought we couldn’t see Nicole’s reaction, she had to have been swooning (although we might not peg her for the swooning type).
Keith isn’t the only romantic guy to sing at his own wedding, though. We’ve rounded up a list of celeb grooms who serenaded their brides at their own weddings, plus a few celebrity couples’ first-dance songs.
1. Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake
If Justin Timberlake didn’t sing at his own wedding, we’d all be a little disappointed — but luckily, he sang an original song to Jessica as she walked down the aisle.
2. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend
John sang “All of Me” at his and Chrissy’s wedding, since he did write the insanely popular song about her, after all.
3. Prince William and Kate Middleton
Ellie Goulding serenaded Will and Kate during their first dance with Elton John’s “Your Song” and made all of us collectively jealous that we weren’t there.
4. Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth
Reese and Jim’s first dance was the popular pick “Make You Feel My Love” by Bob Dylan.
5. Beyonce and Jay Z
Do you really think that the musical power couple to end all musical power couples would dance their first dance to anyone but themselves? Bey and Jay took their first spin to “Crazy in Love” (and is there really a more suitable choice?).
