Poll: Will You Watch Ellen DeGeneres’s New Design Competition Show?
All Ellen DeGeneres fans (so that’s everyone, right?) need to get excited, because our favorite funny lady is getting her own design show! Humor and decor is our new favorite pairing, since Ellen is launching a competition series called Ellen’s Design Challenge on HGTV.
The six-episode series will premiere in 2015 and sounds similar to Top Chef, since six contestants will be paired with expert carpenters to sketch, design and build furniture within 24 hours to compete for a cash prize.
“I’m so excited about this show because I love finding really special pieces of furniture,” Ellen told The Hollywood Reporter. “One time I found a beautiful one-of-a-kind armoire that spoke to me in a way I’d never experienced. It turned out there was a drifter living inside of it, but that’s a story for another time.”
Needless to say, we’re psyched about all of the wacky Ellen-esque spins that will be forever stamped on the world of interior design. Will she demand that each contestant take a selfie with their furniture? Order an impromptu pizza and serve to the winner? Make everyone participate in a blindfolded furniture obstacle course for a video that’ll immediately go viral?
Creativity counts in the contestants’ designs, so they have tons of work ahead of them to impress Ellen. Consider our DVRs already set.
