He told me to hold on because someone wanted to say “Hi”. The person he handed the phone to started with “Hey, congrats to getting married!” The voice sounded familiar, but I wasn’t sure who it was, so I asked. It was my ex! We haven’t talked in years, since he said some not very nice things about me and my (then boyfriend, now husband) to my mother! It was completely awkward after that. I was totally mortified.

He was working behind the counter and as soon as he saw me he ran, literally RAN, into the back room to avoid me. The other employees were like “What??”. He didn’t come out until I left.
