How We Live @ Caldrea

You browse the shelves, shop online, and even peruse the occasional catalog — but sometimes the best home inspiration can’t be found in stores. And as these staffers at Caldrea prove, it isn’t what you buy, but rather how you decorate.

Taking a cue from our sister site, The Blush, we went behind the scenes with this ‘aromatherapeutic homekeeping’ company to see just how they live when not clocking long hours at the office.

Favorite home décor piece: I have two favorites. The first is our dining table. A neighbor made it of reclaimed barnwood and I love everything about it. We have one long bench and old bent wood chairs that have been recovered endless times, surrounding it. The second is the our large bar. It was passed down to me by my Great Aunt Nancy. It's beautiful and smells of her patchouili candles each time I open the doors.

Inspired by: Everything. I'm very impressionable when it comes to design aesthetic. If I have an emotional connection to a place, event or smell, I tend to want to incorporate it into my home.

Favorite color palette: Neutrals -- greys, beige and whites with accents of teal and yellow...and an occasional pop of orange.

Favorite home décor piece: Raw steel kitchen stools – I’ve also used them as bedside tables. Very classic and yet modern.

Inspired by: History: I love classic historic pieces (Directoire period, Eames, Knoll); basically things that last.

Favorite color palette: Grey on grey with maybe a little orange.

Favorite home décor piece: The grid of framed photos of our two girls taken from their first year. It greets me when I come out of our bedroom, so it's a beautiful reminder of why I start the day.

Inspired by: Modern design. Mostly Scandinavian Hans Wegner, Marimekko, Saarinen, etc. Much of how I see that used -- and on a budget I can afford -- is through blogs and design magazines.

Favorite color palette: I love neutrals with pops of color and pattern.

Favorite home décor piece: My coffee table, which is made from reclaimed wood and steel. My old table was a hand-me-down from my parents and this was one of the first furniture pieces I bought after moving into my first home.

Inspired by: I find inspiration through blogs or from following my favorite retailers. I try to only purchase items that I truly love, so even if they don’t necessarily match, I find that each item is more special.

Favorite color palette: I love neutrals with pops of color. My favorite palette is in my bedroom -- it’s grey, cream, and yellow.
