Weekly Money Saver: How to Save on Last-Minute Holiday Airfare
Do you feel like the holidays just came out of nowhere this year? If so, you may be a little behind on nailing down the logistics. Perhaps you haven’t booked your flight home to see your parents, even though Christmas Eve is just a week away. With holiday parties and gift-buying, somehow this important to-do got lost in the mix. Not to worry: Your oversight won’t necessarily cost you, according to the experts. Read on to learn how you can still save money on your plane ticket.
Today’s Tip: Be very flexible with your travel plans, and you may still find a deal on airfare, says Kate Maxwell of Jetsetter.com. On the Today Show this morning, Kate told Matt Lauerthat you’re most likely to save money if you fly on Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve. (Airfare between New York and Los Angeles, for example, cost $100 less than booking the same itinerary on other dates.) The timing might not be perfect, depending on your plans, but it could be worth it financially.
