Best Recipe for National French Toast Day

This morning’s breakfast was a no-brainer. After all, what to eat besides French toast on the very holiday that celebrates it? The recipe that we chose to prepare was an old favorite from the late, great Ready Made magazine–and we were amazed once again by its simplicity. We filled thick-cut slices of French bread with a mixture of goat cheese and berries, soaked each slice in a simple custard, and cooked them in orange butter for a tropical twist. A drizzling of warm maple syrup, and every bite was just as good as we remembered. Get the recipe, and let us know what you think!
