Few things sound better on a hot summer day than a refreshing slice of watermelon. So, on a day like today, as if you need another reason to grab some melon, it’s time to celebrate National Watermelon Day!

This summer fruit has become a staple at barbecues, picnics and family cookouts. It can be sliced up and ate plain or served on a kabob. But what better way to enjoy some watermelon than with a little alcohol?

We found this easy recipe on Pinterest from the blog Love and Olive Oil for some delicious tequila watermelon popsicles.

To make the pops, “Combine watermelon juice, sugar syrup, lime juice and zest, and tequila in a small bowl or pitcher. Pour into popsicle molds. Insert sticks and freeze until solid,” says Love and Olive Oil blogger Lindsay.

We predict the hardest part of this recipe will be waiting for the pops to freeze. In the meantime, you can brush up on your tequila facts.
