Most of us are familiar with her screenplays, yet writer Nora Ephron — who passed Tuesday evening — left behind a legacy that will resonate long after her years.

Shortly after it was announced she had succumbed to acute myeloid leukemia, fans of Ephron flocked to Twitter and other sites to share their respects of the famed author (I Feel Bad About My Neck), screenplay writer (When Harry Met Sally) and director (Julie and Julia).

In her 71 years, Ephron achieved success that many can barely fathom; in addition to her writing and directing credits, she had been a producer — not mention a wife and mother of two . All titles aside, Ephron’s true achievements were measured by her innate ability to empower others through written word.

In honor of her memory, we’ve rounded up Nora’s most note-worthy terms of endearment.

1.“We should announce ourselves to the neighborhood. Just let them know ‘here we come’…We are going to seduce them. We’re going to seduce them with our square footage and our discounts and our deep armchairs.” –You’ve Got Mail

2.“Destiny is something we’ve invented because we can’t stand the fact that everything that happens is accidental.” Sleepless In Seattle

3.“I have a friend whose mantra is: You must choose. And I believe the exact opposite: I think you should always have at least four desserts that are kind of fighting with each other.”

4.“Maintenance is what you have to do just so you can walk out the door knowing that if you go to the market and bump into a guy who once rejected you, you won’t have to hide behind a stack of canned food.” I Feel Bad About My Neck

5.“I look out the window and I see the lights and the skyline and the people on the street rushing around looking for action, love and the world’s greatest chocolate chip cookie, and my heart does a little dance.”Heartburn

6.“I do not believe for one second that butter is the cause of anyone’s death. Overeating may be, but not butter, please. By the way the same thing is true of olive oil. What difference could it possibly make if there’s a little olive oil in your salad dressing? It does not take one day off your life.”

7.“All I’m saying is that somewhere out there is the man you are supposed to marry. And if you don’t get him first, somebody else will, and you’ll have to spend the rest of your life knowing that somebody else is married to your husband.” When Harry Met Sally

8.“You are the butter to my bread, you are the breath to my life.” Julie & Julia

9.“It was a million tiny little things that, when you added them all up, they meant we were supposed to be together…and I knew it. I knew it the very first time I touched her. It was like coming home…only to no home I’d ever known.” Sleepless in Seattle

10. “I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.” When Harry Met Sally
